Hepple Gin is the co-creation of six people – chef, Valentine Warner; the guardian of the Hepple Estate, Walter Riddell; former Sipsmith head distiller, Chris Garden; and Strange Hill directors Cairbry Hill, Craig Lancaster and former director, Nick Strangeway - under the umbrella of the Moorland Spirit Company.  

As an agency, Strange Hill was instrumental in developing the Hepple gin process by re-invigorating a classic gin using a unique triple flavour extraction technique. This modern approach allowed the distillery to draw specific flavours from the abundant natural resources that grow on moorland on the Northumberland estate.  

Our design team created and designed the bottle and label and we went on to create a marketing platform for the brand in an overcrowded gin market. And Strange Hill has been key to the brand’s advocacy - reaching key influencers and developing a drinks strategy for the gin. 

Double Gold winner at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition and rated five-stars-plus “outstanding” by Difford’s, Hepple Gin has been described by the Telegraph’s drinks correspondent Victoria Moore as “the best martini gin I’ve ever tasted”. Moorland Spirit Co has gone on to release two further products - Douglas Fir Vodka and Hepple Sloe & Hawthorne Gin - with continuing core involvement from Strange Hill.
