The team at X Muse tasked Strange Hill with furthering their research into the use of UK Heritage barley to produce a vodka. They wanted to express their belief that ‘vodka is not, by definition, colourless and odourless, neutral spirit, it should be a rich liquid, that is both complex in both taste and aroma’.
Strange Hill undertook extensive research through, milling, fermentation, distilling, blending and tasting sessions of several UK Heritage barley strain malts, combining them with water sourced from the ancient aquifer at Scotland’s Bonnington Estate. This resulted in the first blended barley vodka distilled in Scotland, full of character and maintaining the philosophy of the brand while expressing the history and art influence surrounding it.
X Muse has since gone on to win awards in the vodka sector, including Gold at The Vodka Masters 2022 in the Ultra-Premium category.
